NICA welcomes Senate President of Nigeria, Senator Goodswill Akpabio.

The Senate President of Federal Republic of Nigeria Senator Godswill Akpabio lead Nigeria's delegation to the 147th Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) General Assembly in Luanda -Angola.

The Inter-Parliamentary Union is the global Organization of national parliaments founded in 1887 and dedicated to promoting peace through parliamentary diplomacy and dialogue. Been grown over it's 135 years into a truly global organisation with 179 member countries out of 193 countries of the world was held on 23rd to 27th October, 2023.


The Nigerian Senate President in delegation of the Deputy Speaker of the Nigeria House of Representatives, Rt Hon Benjamin O Kalu, 7 (seven) parliamentary senators and other envoys arrived onboard an Air force Jet was welcomed by the Ambassador of Federal Republic of Nigeria in Angola, Prof (Mrs) Monique Ekong, Embassy Staff and the Executive Council of the Nigeria Community Association Angola at the 4 fevererio international airport Luanda Angola. Soon after the exchange of pleasantries, a relate with the group to foster more cordial relationship among Nigerians resident in Angola and Federal Republic of Nigeria was a scheduled meeting for 25th October 2023 at Hotel Diaminte de Angola .


Participants in the meeting were the Ambassador of Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof (Mrs) Monique Ekpong, Nigeria Community Association Executive Council, President of Angola- Nigeria Chambers of Commerce and Industry Ms .........., Nigeria Professionals and prominent Nigerians resident.


The Nigeria Community Association President, Hon Ogbuka Obinna Anthony and General Secretary Hon Ofoedu Chukwuma Anthony embraced the opportunity to log in the ordeal of several outrageous challenges encounters by Nigerians resident in Angola as follows:

- difficulty in renewal of international passport by members and seek for a passport office in Angola.


- the building of the association's Secretariat Complex.


- building a strategic ONE STOP shops for the Nigerian Motor Spare Parts dealers.


- the issue of high airlines flight tickets and others


Reacting to the above, the Deputy Speaker of the Nigeria House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Benjamin O Kalu in his submissions regretted the challenges been faced by Nigerians, expressing his profound gratitude for the active moral representation of the NICCA members and reckoned appreciation to the executive council of the association for their commitment towards betterment of Nigerian's conducts and good stay in Angola. Assured participants of keen interest of the Senate President to meet and form a lasting solution to the listed challenges.


The Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio who felt pity for the situation and the enumerated challenges in his remarks promised to forward it to the appropriate authority, at the same time assured his quick interference to the most pressing issue which was the passport renewal.
